Just Do It

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I have it in me
Just need to plan
There’s a great product
Inside this man
Focus on the goal
Begin moving forward
Don’t wander off course
Keep things in order
The end’s in sight
The reward is sweet
I’m one step closer
To achieveing this feet
Won’t let distractions
Take my eyes off the goal
I’ll let my momentum
Keep me on a roll
I just gotta remember
To take a step at a time
And all that I want
Will eventually be mine
I’ve been blessed with so much
Now these blessing I’ll use
To achieve the outcome
Inspired by my muse
The time is still not known
When I’ll reach the destination
But that’s not going to stop me
Because I’ve got determination
I’ve always had it in me
I just never really knew it
Now that I’m aware
I’m setting off, and I’ll just do it

THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Sitting in my driver’s seat
But not going anywhere
Staring at my windshield wipers
Killing raindrops so methodically
Parked in a lot somewhere
And with my engine off
The ignition key is half turned
So the wipers can wipe periodically

I watch them go back and forth
Then they wait for a beat of “5″
Only to resurrect from rest
To remove a whole new water blanket
It’s what the wipers are made for
And they did it oh so well
I’m thinking of removing one
So I can take some time to thank it

Isn’t that what we all want
Just a little appreciation
We do what we’re supposed to
And then we’re taken for granted
It’s not like we should expect thanks
We must do what we’re made to do
But acknowledgement will keep us going
I don’t think it’s wrong to want it

The rain is now stopping
I count to five and the wipers go
They’ll only stop if I ask them
Their obedience has been noted
They don’t complain at all
But if they could, they’d probably think to
So I’ll step in and turn them off
In hopes that they’ll stay devoted

Can’t and Can

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

I can’t play the guitar, but I can play with your mind
I can’t cook a pot roast, but I can cook up some trouble
I can’t give directions, but I can give a darn
I can’t plant a tree, but I can plant ideas in your head
For someone who can’t do much, I can really do a lot with you
HUH!?!

SOON TO BE RICH

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Thought I’d let you know, I am going to be a millionaire
How will it happen? It’s not something I can share
But it’ll happen. I know it, it will happen
In the near future I am going to become filthy rich
I am just now starting to feel that tycoon itch
It’s coming to me. I know that it’ll happen
The money’s coming and it’s coming in piles
We’ll be living in luxury, we’ll be living in style
I have a premonition that it’s gonna happen soon
It may even start to happen before the next new moon
My family’s gonna know how it feels to have wealth
It’s next in line after God, and love and health
But it’s going to happen; I know it’s going to happen!
It’s just around the corner, I know it is for sure
A little luck and hard work and it’ll just show up at my door
Don’t be surprised when it happens. It will happen

The Happiest Day of the Year

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

For accountants it’s the 16th of April
For Santa it’s December 25th
For mothers it’s May’s second Sunday
For fathers, the 3rd Sunday of June
Children can’t wait for Halloween candy
Christians rejoice when Easter arrives
Many of these days pertain to me,
Yet there’s another day that fills me with joy!
TODAY!
The last day of class for a teacher.
Don’t get me wrong: I love what I do
But after nine months of the same faces
And the last two months with diminishing results
There is nothing better than to know you get a break
A well-deserved break.
Today, I get mine!!!
And I couldn’t be any happier!

Minding your P’s

Friday, May 18th, 2007

What makes you think

That you giving me a piece of your mind

Would ever give me any peace of mind

So stop rearranging the q’s and p’s in your mind

And cease giving info like you have a PEZ of a mind

Or everyone will think you have a pea for a mind

Let the Rain Come

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I normally don’t like it when it begins to rain
I wish it would stop and let sunshine remain
But lately the rain has been a welcome sight
Let it rain through the day and into the night
The drought we have had has left the grass dead
Leaving ugly patches of brown in its stead
So when the clouds started forming I found myself praying
That the drops falling from the sky would keep spraying
Hopefully the water the clouds send will give aid
To each thirsting flower and to every grass blade
And the more it rains now, the happier I’ll be
When it finally stops raining again, don’t you see?

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

“A” man, whatcha doing?
You wanna “B” part of the gang?
I “C” you’re interested
“D” look on your face in unmistakable
If you join it won’t be “E”sy
It’ll take a lot of “F”ort
But “G”, it’ll be worth it
A guy your “H” will have a ball here
That “I” can guarantee
You’ll no longer be blue like a “J”
Everything will be o”K”
Really, it’s “L”"M”"N”tary
“O” and invite your friends
You could all be “P”s in a pod
Just follow my “Q” and you’re in
Just be who you “R”
It really “S” up to you
I think it suits you to a “T”
“U” deserve to be somebody
Just hop on into your “V”"W”
Don’t even call your “X”
“Y” even look back
Joining us may be “Z” best decision you’ll ever make
“ALPHABET” my life on it!

A SPOT OF TEA

Monday, May 7th, 2007

If you don’t mind
I’d like if you find
A small cup of tea
You could offer to me
It’s about that time
So squeeze half a lime
To give the tea taste
Please don’t make haste
I really do thirst
So bring me mine first
Then sit down and drink
And oh yes let me think
Call old Auntie Mae
To join us today
It’ll all be quite nice
Just one cup would suffice
So please bring me the tea
It’d be lovely, you see?

FREEDOM OF SPEECH MEANS GOD TOO

Monday, May 7th, 2007

This poem was inspired by one of those chain letters that we are supposed to continually send to ten people so as to not break a chain of good luck, while spreading a good message. I refuse to send e-mails that say that if I don’t forward them, then I am ashamed of God. My faith is not based on the 50 e-mails I get a week that I am supposed to forward, that in doing so will fill up somebody’s mailbox in a way I don’t like myself. I don’t send them because “I do unto others as I’d like them to do unto me”.
On the flip side, this seems to be the only way some people can get God into schools and the workplace, so for that I applaud. I will do it a little differently though, and below is my medium. PRAISE GOD AND THE LIBERTIES HE HAS GIVEN US!

FREEDOM OF SPEECH MEANS GOD TOO
I really don’t think that I owe you an apology
If you happen to disgaree with my ideology
You shouldn’t be offended with what I believe is true
Because my beliefs are about me and are not about you
So please don’t try to dictate what it is that I can say
We were founded by people who had intended to pray
To deny me that right is to go back into the past
And to deny all the liberties that we’d all hope would last
It was faith that brought us here to this wonderful land
That’s why I can’t see why you don’t understand
That we all have a right to express what we feel
And so this is why I must make this appeal
If you don’t believe in the same God that I do
You don’t have to pray to Him, but you don’t have to sue
For the right to take away my freedom of speech
In the place where our kids learn the values we teach
This nation was created as one nation under God
By throwing Him out we become one giant fraud
When an institution forgets the ideals on which it stands
Then it no longer can expect the respect it demands
So to me it does not seem to be so complicated
To understand why in this world this country is so hated
We were the country that invited the underprivileged and needy
And now we’re a godless nation, all stuck up and greedy
Maybe if we turn back to what we, as a country, believed
We can restore to the world they way we once were perceived
And to the small little group who claims God unconstitutional
It’s our love for God that let’s your voice be deemed rational
Don’t you see the only reason you even have a say
Is that God loving people fought for the freedoms we have today
So please don’t shut us up, don’t imply it’s not our right
When we express what we feel beyond the silence of the night
Our faith is not something we should keep inside or hide
We’ll grow more if we share it and don’t throw it to the side
Differing views could be a good thing if we have an open heart
So please open up your own before this nation falls apart
