FINDING A RHYME

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Sometimes one can’t find the time
To find the words that make lines rhyme
One’s head is muddled with all kinds of stuff
Preventing one from writing off the cuff
That means that someone then has to think
To come up with that word that’s a perfect link
To get to the next line and the one after that
And finish a poem like…

Sorry! Ran out of time and can’t think of a rhyme for “that” that’s fitting.
See what I mean!!

A New Beginning

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Tomorrow is a big day for me. It is the first of 20 straight weekdays in which I plan to produce my educational product. For a year now I have been working a little and thinking a lot about getting this done. Now for the next twenty days I have no excuse because I am not working. I am going to spend the time I am normally working to work on this project. I have waited for this moment much the same way I waited for the moment to start my work out program. Well, my workouts are now five weeks in (with 8 weeks to go… 34 days down, BABY!!), and now my MathEd vids go into full production. This will combine my creative and intellectual forces to create what I hope, correction, know will be a good product. I have written a lot of material for this and now I have to get it all on tape once and for all. I’ve got four weeks to do it. Then it’s a matter of editing advertising and distributing. It’s a lot of work but with God’s help, it will get done. I know it. I will continue to be blogging. I gotta make sure i keep tabs on myself, and this is a good way for me to push myself to do the things I need to do.

Oh, did I mention I got 10 hits TWO DAYS IN A ROW! The hits went down over the weeknd, though, but I guess that’s to be expected. People really should be out and about and not glued in front of their computers, even if they ARE visiting my site. (This is not meant to discourage you from visiting. Just use your computer time wisely and ONLY visit here.) :-)~

So wish me luck and send a prayer in my direction. I’ll be sure to send one back!

10 hits in one day!!

Friday, June 27th, 2008

OK, most of you may think this is silly, but for a guy who visits very few other sites and does not exactly promote his site, 10 hits is pretty cool! Wow, 10 people came to my page. I hope someone leaves a little note so I can find out who you are simply so I can find out about the thoughts and tastes of people out there. Well, just wanted to share my excitedness. Hey maybe one of these days I’ll get, I don’t know, maybe 11 HITS!

Abrupt Wake Up Call

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Poor old, old, old, Rip van Winkle
Woke from his slumber ’cause he had to tinkle
Realized that he was all wrinkled
And didn’t see what he had sprinkled…

It seems he sprinkled an old lady’s shoe
Who already was confused about what to do
She saw the old man whizzin’ in front of her crew
And heard the kids crying in unison, “Ewwwwwww!!”

30, Treinta, THIRTY!!!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I am officially one third of the way through P90X! 30 days down, 60 to go. Keep me in your prayers. I’ll be sure to keep you in mine… whoever you are! And BTW, a shout out to my girl, Bego, who posted 3 comments today. It was good to hear from you… or read from you… or see you are there… I mean I didn’t actually hear you… though when I read your musings I hear your voice in my head as if you’re reciting. Is that the same? Whatever, you get my drift. And you are right, Begs, it appears that someone in the middle of the Atlantic appears to have found my site. Maybe they’re from the Azores… or maybe their from (DUN DUN DUN…) ATLANTIS!!! If you ARE from Atlantis, let me know. I want to be the first to officially visit you guys… now that you’ve visited me, I feel like we’re friends!!!
Anyways, I am off to rest up for the last two days. And three cheers for my son who celebrates his birthday today. YAY!!!!! Gettin’ old! (Him, not me… though if he’s old and I’m his dad… hey lay off!)

No L.O. Sorry!! (Wait)

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

OK, so last night I said I’d throw in an L.O. today. It didn’t happen. Get over it. I have but 2 days left in summer school and I chose to pay attention to what my boys needed to do to pass before Friday came around. Too many boys with diplomas at stake expecting me to hand over a passing grade just because they went to class for three weeks. They never thought they actually had to EARN their grade. I mean they paid their dues, right? Well, they got the wrong teacher. Someone forgot to tell me that learning wasn’t important in summer school and I decided to… “GASP”… TEACH. Now these poor souls need to complete more work than they’ve done over the last year and turn it in in the next two days. Good luck to them. Let’s see how badly they really want it!!! Hey, I just realized something. This just became a Life Occurrence. Go figure! Well, now that I’ve written it let me let it go and go on to another topic. Hold on a second, I’m transferring to another post… (actually you’ve probably already read it because they appear here in reverse chronological order… ANOTHER OBSERVATION OF MINE! How exciting…

getting there

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Just finished my first chest, shoulder, tri workout. I did more pushups today than I did all of the last four years combined. Allow me to say… ouch.
I got through it though. Tomorrow I do plyometrics for the first time in two weeks. Let’s see how the rest affected my body. Today’s Ab Ripper was my most successful after not having to do it for 10 days. I feel stronger already. After tomorrow I will have done 30 days… exactly 1/3 of the way there. I took the four month pics and you could see a difference already. I gotta figure out a way to get them posted!!! Any way, it’s late and I’m tired. I’m going to bathe, pray, and sleep. Only three more days of summer school and then I’ll be free!!!
I’ll add more tomorrow. I’ll make sure to add some creative stuff. Today I read some Dave Barry stuff and it inspired me to start getting some Life Occurrences going again. Let’s see if I can come up with an L.O. tomorrow. Ciao, babies!

The Annoying Clock

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Tick Tock Tick Tock

I hear the ticking of my clock

Tick Tock Tick Tock

What can I do to make it stop?

Tick Tock

Should I stuff it in a sock?

Tick Tock

Should I hit it with a rock?

Tick Tock

Should I throw it off the dock?

Tick Tock

Should I shoot it with a gloc?

Tick Tock

I think I’ll fry it in my wok!

(Silence)

I think it went into shock

At the thought of frying in a wok

Knock Knock

Who’s there?

Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock

Where’d my clock learn to mock?

George Carlin, dead at 71

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Today when I opened up to my home page the first thing I saw was a headline stating that George Carlin had died. Just a week ago I was having a conversation about the very man with my sister-in-law. If you check my Blockbuster on line movie queue you will also see that the next movie in line is a live Carlin show.  And now he’s gone.

Carlin is an interesting person because I thought he was absolutely hilarious and at the same time totally ignorant about a great many things including his own ignorance.  Not to get into detail, but the conversation I had with my sister-in-law revolved around his ignorance.  Carlin was pro-choice, a stance that i disagree with but one that I have to understand is quite popular in this country.  What got me is how he spoke of abortion like a cracking an egg that one is using for an omelet.  Destroying a human embryo is like destroying a fowl embryo… no different.  In fact he wasn’t sure why people aren’t more up in arms about eggs being taken away from their mothers!  In other words he was saying that humans are no better than chickens.  WOW!

Could this have been said in gest?  Anyone who knew Carlin and his works knew that what he said was being said in a way that was funny, but he didn’t say anything that he didn’t feel to be true.  In many cases I found myself laughing at the things he said.  Other times I had to shake my head wondering if all the drugs he took had really killed that many brain cells. (more…)

4 DOWN, 9 TO GO

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Folks, I’ve just finished my fourth week of workouts. Tomorrow is simply my stretch/rest day so it doesn’t really count. Tomorrow I take my first follow up pictures to see how I’ve progressed so far. Maybe now I will finally post the pics I promised to put up four weeks ago… along with the new pics I’ll be taking tomorrow. Let’s see if I actually go through the trouble to fix my photos so that I can actually put them on this site. Anyways, this morning I weighed 178. The most I weighed in the morning before beginning? 193. That means that I’ve lost 15 pounds in a month! Woohoo. Of course, this is 178 in my boxers and barefoot. I’m in the 183 range clothed. At my most fit 7 years ago I was down to 170 clothed. That is my goal but we’ll see where this workout takes me. In two days I start new routines meant to cause muscle confusion which will in turn increase both the size and the tone of my muscles. We’ll see after the second batch of follow up pics in 4 weeks how that works out. Well, anyway, I’m off to sleep to prepare myself for the last week of summer school. Just 5 more days and I can actually rest! Or at least work doing what I want to do. I plan to get up at the same time and work the same amount of hours but making the DVD’s that I’d started making almost a year ago already. NOW IS THE TIME. I have to take advantage! So, I bid you all adieu. I will be back again later today or maybe tomorrow for my next update.
