Onetime Friendship
Onetime Friendship
Listening to “The Million Dollar Hotel”
I remember the days gone past
I recall being a man that was called “best”
Figuring all relationships would last
But my how things have changed
Every day something new rolls into life
Who’d have thought that I’d lose a friend
The day that he marries his wife
A connection may still exist
Through mutual acquaintances and heresay
We meet up sometimes perchance
We both seem to know the other’s OK
But the moments that we shared
Are now but memories caught in celluloid
I feel like the person he thought was so close
Is now the one he’s working to void
So now I wander through my life
Enjoying the little things with all new friends
Like watching critters eating jellybeans
And inking and doodling to no end
I still think about my comrade
Music seems to set my mind a wandering
But I let Bono’s songs pass through me and leave
Of that my friendship I shall stop wondering.
