Onetime FriendshipÂ
Listening to “The Million Dollar Hotel”Â
I remember the days gone pastÂ
I recall being a man that was called “best”Â
Figuring all relationships would lastÂ
But my how things have changedÂ
Every day something new rolls into lifeÂ
Who’d have thought that I’d lose a friendÂ
The day that he marries his wifeÂ
A connection may still existÂ
Through mutual acquaintances and heresayÂ
We meet up sometimes perchanceÂ
We both seem to know the other’s OKÂ
But the moments that we sharedÂ
Are now but memories caught in celluloidÂ
I feel like the person he thought was so closeÂ
Is now the one he’s working to voidÂ
So now I wander through my lifeÂ
Enjoying the little things with all new friendsÂ
Like watching critters eating jellybeansÂ
And inking and doodling to no endÂ
I still think about my comradeÂ
Music seems to set my mind a wanderingÂ
But I let Bono’s songs pass through me and leaveÂ
Of that my friendship I shall stop wondering.Â
