What’s Going On? (sequel to What’s Up?)
So, here I was driving into the parking lot at my daughter’s school. I came early to avoid the traffic and to meet with one of her teachers. The parking lot was pretty much empty. Empty, except for him…
It was that guy: the guy who had seemingly called me over, only to be waving down his daughter, the one in whose presence I had looked like a total IDIOT. I thought about staying in my car until he was clear of the area… then, I thought different.
I started waving at him to get his attention. Nothing. I started yelling, “Hey! Hey you!” Nothing still. I finally started honking. That got his attention. He looked and saw me waving at him. He looked around, and noticed he was the only one there (he’s so damn smart, huh?), and decided to approach my car. He finally got to my car and said, “What’s going on?”
“Excuse me?” I replied.
“Yeah, you called me over. You need something?”
“I wasn’t waving at you,” I said trying to hold back a smirk.
“Hey, buddy, I’m the only one in the whole parking lot!”
I couldn’t hold back… I began, “So how does it feel, huh? You feel pretty dumb, now, don’t you? It stinks to look like a fool, huh, huh, huh? When someone flags you down, but is really flagging someone else down, huh?HUH? Don’t like it, h…”
I didn’t see that punch coming, me sitting in my car and all. Who would have known that this guy’s hands were that quick, or that he was a black belt in seven different martial arts? I’m told I was lucky he took it easy on me. And I guess I am. I’m going to think twice before I wave somebody else down ever again… and if the wrong person comes, I’ll talk to him anyway.
Oh, and who knew that the tooth fairy came to thitysomething year old men? 2 teeth at $10 a pop? Not bad, not bad at all.
